Maldives Customs Service has seized illicit drugs worth MVR 1 million yesterday. The seized drugs had a net weight of more than 2 kilograms.
According to Maldives Customs Service, the drugs were seized from a cargo vessel that came to Maldives from India. In the joint operation conducted by Maldives Customs Service and Maldives Police Service 2.12 kilograms of hashih oil was seized.
Maldives Police Service has arrested those suspected in the case. Maldives Customs Service also arrested a foreigner who smuggled drugs into the Maldives yesterday. He is a 28-year-old Bangladeshi man who arrived to the Maldives yesterday.
Authorities found more than 1900 amphetamine pills from his luggage.
