Have to prioritize national interest: Maumoon

Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom has stated that the leaders of the ruling coalition should prioritize national interest.

President Maumoon tweeted saying that the coalition should not be dissolved.

Meanwhile, Qasim Ibrahim the leader of JP said that he is ready to talk with all the interested parties to work together for the upcoming parlaimentary elections.

Maumoon further said that the four parties AP, JP, MDP and MRM formed a coalition to establish good governance and to realize the dreams of the people. He said that hence, the leaders should prioritize national interest.

In addition he said that it is an obligation upon the leaders of the coalition to sustain the coalition. Maumoon also congratulated former President Nasheed for winning a ticket to contest in the parliament.

The dispute between MDP and JP began after MDP decided to contest for all the constituencies in the parliament election. This is against the terms of the agreement they made prior to the presidential elections.
