Gender Minister Shidhatha Shareef has shared her concerns with the Home Minister Imran Abdullah over the increase in sudden and unusual deaths in the past few weeks.
Minister Shidhatha met with Home Minister Imran at the Home Ministry and she stated that many such incidents have occurred in the past few weeks and women, children and old people are victims of the cases.
According to the Gender Ministry, the minister highlighted that it was the ministry’s mandate to ensure the rights of vulnerable groups and it is in the interest of the ministry to ensure justice to the victims of such cases.
In addition, the ministry noted that the Home Minister assured that he will cooperate with the ministry and both ministers discussed on ways to reduce such incidents in future.
