Supreme Court revokes High Court’s order to transfer Adheeb to house arrest

Supreme Court of the Maldives has ordered all the state authorities to stop implementing the High Court order to transfer former Vice President Ahmed Adheeb to house arrest.

An order issued by the Supreme Court today states that until the Supreme Court makes a final decision, the court orders all state authorities to stop implementing the High Court order issued yesterday to transfer Adheeb to house arrest.

High Court of the Maldives ordered the police to transfer Adheeb to his house after his lawyers filed a case at the Court stating that Adheeb’s ill health requires him to be at home. Maldives Correctional Service has transferred Adheeb after the order.

At the moment Adheeb is serving multiple jail sentences over various crimes he committed during his tenure as Tourism Minister and Vice President.
