Ruling party MDP has proposed to set minimum wage at 200 Rufiyaa per day.
A paper written by the party to submit in the upcoming parliament states that the minimum wage will be 200 Rufiyaa per day. The paper proposes different minimum wages for different sectors.
Following are the minimum wages per day for various sectors
Transport: Rf 266.27
Fisheries and agriculture : Rf 266.67
Construction: Rf 200
Resort workers : 333.33
Tourist sector in general: 200
Health sector: 266.67
Other sectors : 200
According to MDP, the minimum wage should be provided for temporary workers as well.
Setting a minimum wage is a campaign pledge of President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih.
