Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has stated that the party proposes to take income tax from people who earns more than a monthly income of Rf 60,000.
A paper written by MDP which the party plans to propose to the upcoming parliament states that individuals who earns an income between 60,000 to 100,000 Rufiyaa should pay an income tax of 3.5% and individuals who earns 100,000 to 150,000 should pay 6.5% as income tax.
In addition MDP proposes to levy a 10 percent income tax on those who earn 150,000 to 200,000 Rufiyaa per month and 15% on those who earn 200,000 and above per month.
Introducing an income tax was a pledge by President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih.
