Elections Commission of the Maldives has decided not take action against People’s National Congress PNC. Earlier this week the Elections Commission formed a committee to investigate PNC after the commission received a compliant that the party was using PPM’s assets and resources.
According to the Commission they decided not to take action against PNC because they made the regulation which prevents the use of resources of other parties after PNC was registered.
A member of the committee stated that they do not believe that action can be taken for something that happened before the regulation was published in the gazette.
PNC had their inaugural session on 27th January and elected an interim governing body.
