Ahmed Naseer the governor of Maldives Monetary Authority has stated that their aim is to introduce digital payment system in the Maldives before the end of the current year.
Speaking to an online newspaper, the governor said that their highest priority is introducing cashless payment systems. He said that the payment will be ready within this year.
Dhiraagu and Oorhaveo has introduced cashless payment systems and Bank of Maldives is also planning to introduce a similar service.
However services provided by Dhiraagu and Ooredoo are not so popular among the public.
