Former President Maumoon has stated that he wants the ruling coalition to get a majority in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Speaking to candidates who will be contesting in the elections with Maumoon’s support, he said that MRM will not try to get the majority of the Majlis but will try to get the majority for the coalition government.
“We want the support of the people. The people need to encourage us to empower the parliament. The people’s power can be witnessed from the parliament. We are not trying to get the majority of the parliament. We are partners in the ruling coalition” said Maumoon.
In addition Maumoon said that the parliament members are elected to serve their people and not to enrich themselves.
