Maseeh presided over the parliament in accordance with the law – he should get an allowance and other benefits from the state: Reeko Moosa

MP Moosa Manik the deputy speaker of the parliament has stated that the former speaker of the parliament Abdullah Maseeh presided over the parliament in accordance with the law and hence he should get an allowance and other benefits as stated in the law.

Moosa noted that Maseeh resigned from the position on his own and hence such people should be provided with security and an allowance.

However, in the past Moosa accused Maseeh of lying about resigning. Maseeh resigned from his post soon after President Solih won the September 2018 elections. After the president won the election, members of the parliament filed a no confidence motion against the speaker and the matter was included in the agenda of the parliament. Maseeh resigned in the last minute.
