MP Rukuma leaves MDP

MP Mohammed Abdul Kareem (Rukuma) the member of parliament for Henveyru South consitutency has left MDP.

Rukuma tweeted today saying that he cannot differentiate between loyal people and enemies from the party and hence decided to leave MDP, the party which he sacrificed a lot. He said that he handed his resignation letter to the party’s secretariat with sadness.

He lost the party’s ticket to contest in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

“I do not believe that the primary was free and fair. Many seniors of the party campaigned against me” said Rukuma.

After the Supreme Court verdict which nullified the legislation which prevented those who lose from primaries to contest in the election, it is believed that Rukuma will contest as an independent candidate.
