Maldives and Saudi Arabia signs agreements on mutual cooperation

Maldives and Saudi Arabia has signed agreements on projects in which both countries will work together in the next two years.

A delegation from Saudi Arabia arrived in the Maldives this week to sign the agreements. The delegation was headed by the deputy Islamic minister of the country Dr.Abdullah Mohammed Al Saamil. He signed the agreement on behalf of Saudi Arabia while Islamic Minister of Maldives Dr.Ahmed Zahir Ali signed on behalf of Maldives.

According to the Islamic Ministry the purpose of the delegation is to strengthen the relation between the two countries and to conduct religious awareness programs, developing mosques, to save Maldives from radical views and to resolve various challenges faced by Islam today. 

The delegation will depart on 3rd March.
