President of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives Aminath Eenas, and the VP of the commission Mohammed Zahid has met with Home Minister Imran Abdullah yesterday.
According to the commission the meeting was an introductory meeting between the minister and the president and vice president of the commission.
In the meeting, they discussed on the challenges the commission faces in investigating issues related to detention centers under the supervision of the Home Ministry. As per the Human Rights Act of the Maldives, the commission has a responsibility in investigating and supervising the detention facilities.
