A delegation of the United Nation’s Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has met with Qasim Ibrahim the speaker of the People’s Majlis today.
The meeting was held at the secretariat of the parliament. Speaker Qasim Ibrahim welcomed the delegation and noted that upholding human rights is a key priority area of Maldives. They also discussed on the achievements of Maldives in terms of democracy and human rights.
The delegation was headed by Moana Rishwam the head of the OHCHR’s Rulw of Law, Equality and non-Discrimination Branch. She shared the details of the delegations visit to the Maldives with Qasim.
The meeting was attended by the secretary general of the parliament Fathimath Neusha and Director of Foreign Relations Zuyyina Badry.
