Starting from tomorrow, Maldivians who travel to India can stay in the country without a visa up to 90 days.

This change comes with an agreement signed between Maldives and India in December 2018. The agreement was signed during President Solih’s visit to India.

As per the agreement, Maldivians who wants to visit India for medical purposes do not have to request for a visa in advance. In addition, those who want to visit India for more than 90 days can get a medical visa up to 1 year through the Indian embassy in the Maldives. Furthermore, up to 2 people can get a medical attendant visa under this agreement.

Those who travel to India for business and leisure can also stay in the country up to 90 days without a visa.
