Maldives Immigration has decided to issue work permit to foreigners from Gan Airport.
This will allow foreigners who arrive in the Maldives for work to enter the country directly from Gan. Previously, everyone had to enter Maldives from Male’ as work permits were not issued from any other port of entry.
A statement issued by the Immigration states that this was a service requested by the business community of Addu for a long time and because foreigners had to enter through Velana International Airport, the businesses incurred extra costs.
Immigration noted that they aim to provide more services that will increase convenience for the people.
