Ministry of Finance and Treasury has stated that the ministry received 79.7 million Rufiyaa as green tax in last February.
According to the ministry’s report, the state received 72 million Rufiyaa from resorts and 2.5 million Rufiyaa from guest houses and 1.9 million Rufiyaa from hotels.
A total of 27.9 million Rufiyaa was from Male’ atolls. Resorts in Male’ atoll paid 26.9 million Rufiyaa as green tax, where as guest houses paid 800,000 Rufiyaa and hotels paid 160,020 Rufiyaa.
Meanwhile, the second most amount of money was from Adh Atoll. A total of 9.8 million Rufiyaa was paid as taxes from that atoll. In addition, 6.8 million was paid from tourist resorts and hotels in B.Atoll. In addition, the government received 6.5 million Rufiyaa from AA atoll and 5.3 million Rufiyaa from Lhavyani Atoll. In addition, 3.7 million Rufiyaa was received from Raa and Noon Atoll.
Estimates show that the state will receive 892.7 million Rufiyaa as green tax by the end of this year.
