Addu City Council has officially begun the work of developing Addu City’s city square.
In a ceremony held at the city square, the project was officially launched by Addu’s mayor Abdullah Sodiq.
Speaking at the ceremony, the mayor said that developing the square is the beginning of the projects planned by the government for Addu City and in the coming days various other projects will begin.
President Ibrahim Solih also stated that the city square will be developed and various other projects will be conducted at Addu City.
The City Square was first developed by former President Nasheed’s administration in 2011 for the 17th SAARC summit held in the city. However due to mismanagement the city square was destroyed and was usually used by joggers as a place to rest and exercise.
As the first part of the development, a new flag will be hoisted at the square. Once the project is completed, the city square will be a public place where families can enjoy.
