State Trading Organization STO has stated that they are getting ready to market the agricultural products of Maldives.
STO’s chief financial officer, Mohammed Mihadh said that the company plans to start new businesses this year. He said that like how MIFCO is purchasing fish from fishermen, STO plans to purchase agricultural products from farmers and then market them.
“Agriculture is an important sector just likes fisheries, and the industry hasn’t been developed because they do not get a fair price, or because they do not have a place to sell. So we will developed a model like MIFCO for agriculture” said Mihadh.
He said that STO is doing feasibility studies and ways to fund such a project.
