Certificates awarded to the first batch of Area Control Procedural Course

Certificates have been awarded to the first batch of Area Control Procedural course conducted at Velana International Airport. The 8-week course was done for 9 Air Traffic Services staff at ATS simulator class room.

The course was conducted by one foreign instructor along with three local instructors who are senior air traffic controllers. This is the first such course to be ever conducted in the Maldives locally.

A course of this magnitude can be conducted abroad for a price between USD 11000 to USD 14000. However, to conduct the course domestically, it costs USD 500 per head and it is a huge achievement to Maldives Airports Company Limited according to a statement issued by the company.

The aim of this course is to meet an urgent operational requirement due to lack of enough Area-rated controllers at Maldives Air Traffic Control Centre (MATCC). Chief Executive of MCAA Mr. Hussain Jaleel gave out the certificates to the participants in a special ceremony held at Hulhule Island Hotel.
