Aneesa Ahmed an ex minister in former president Maumoon’s cabinet have questioned what prevents Maldives from appointing a female as the head of the legislature.
She stated that Malaysia, a much bigger Islamic country has appointed a woman as the chief justice and asked why Maldives cannot appoint a female to the head of the parliament.
Aneesa is a woman’s right activist and a close associate of former President Maumoon.
