The prisons audit report has been presented to the speaker of the parliament.
The report was presented to the speaker of the parliament, President Nasheed by Home Minister Sheikh Imran Abdullah.
The report says that the jails have inmates of all categories even though the law states that inmates should be separated based on their crimes. Also it says that there is discrimination among inmates in the prisons and there are flaws in the safety measures of the prisons.
In addition, the report states that due to the variations in regulations in different prisons there is discrimination among the inmates, and it hinders the human rights of the inmates.
The report has been shared with relevant stakeholders according to the Home Minister.
