High Court nullifies ex-VP Adheeb’s last remaining conviction

High Court of the Maldives has nullified the last conviction on former Vice President Ahmed Adheeb. Previously he was convicted on three counts and in total had to serve in prison for 33 years.

He was convicted for his role in blasting the Finifenma Launch and he was sentenced to 15 years. That conviction was overturned by the High Court on the 20th. In addition he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for possession of a pistol, and that sentence was overturned on the 27th of this month. After that, today the High Court overturned his graft conviction, where he was service an 8-year sentence. 

Adheeb is still in house arrest as the Supreme Court has upheld that order. He tweeted today saying that he prayed to Allah when he was in prison and shared the 87th verse of Surah Al-Anbiya with the tweet.
