Anti-Corruption Commission of the Maldives has stated that they are paying the salary of the Anti-Corruption Commission’s President even though he has been absent for two months because there is no way to withhold the salary as per the regulations.
Speaking at the parliament oversight committee, Muavviz Rasheed the Vice President of ACC said that he does not know the whereabouts of ACC’s President Lutfy and it has been 2 months since he hasn’t attended any meetings of the committee. He also said that the commission has not heard from him.
Muavviz requested the parliament to amend the laws which states that the presidents of independent commissions can get the salary even if they are absent from work.
