Some members of the parliament have proposed to dissolve the Islamic University and to make it a faculty of Maldives National University.
The MPs proposed this while debating about the amendments submitted by the government to the national university’s legislation. Some MPs who spoke about this stated that the students of Maldives are close minded due to Islam and their minds will be opened when the Islamic University is dissolved.
Some members also suggested to further develop the campuses of Maldivian National University and to provide more opportunity for the students.
