Auditor General of the Maldives Hassan Ziyath has stated that state owned companies conduct CSR activities for political reasons.
The AG made this statement while speaking at the SOE committee of the parliament. He said that often CSR activities are conducted for political causes and that it should be stopped. He said that the maximum amount the companies can spend on CSR activities should be made clear.
He also said that the companies should be able to operate without relying on the government for funding.
Ziyath also noted the importance of having an internal audit team in state owned companies.
