Latheefa Qasim has lost her seat in the Judicial Service Commission. She was elected to the JSC by lawyers.
She lost the position because the president ratified the legal profession bill. The bill states that as soon as the bill is ratified, the representatives of lawyers who sits at JSC will lose the seat.
The law states that as soon as the bill is ratified, a bar council should be formed and within 15 days an election should be held to elect a member to the JSC.
The bar council should be formed within 21 days from now.
