Education Minister Dr.Aishath Ali has stated that it is important for the president to have the authority to dismiss chancellors of universities of needed.
Speaking at a meeting held to discuss about the amendments suggested to the National University law and Islamic University Law the minister said that if the law states that the chancellors get a 5 year term then it will be not possible to remove them before that and it is important to give that authority to the president.
The members of the parliament committee stated that the university legislations will be amended in a way which will be acceptable to the public.
