China has begun the phase II trial of a vaccine for the novel corona virus.
Chinese authorities have now begun recruiting volunteers for human testing. They will need at least 500 volunteers which is 5 times more than the numbers used in phase I which was conducted in March.
The trial will be conducted in Wuhan, China’s epicenter of covid-19. All the participants of the trial must be asymptomatic. Those who participate in trial two must under go a 14 day self quarantine at home.
The participants will be monitored for six months after the trial and investigators will visit the participants at least four time.
Chinese authorities are trying to perfect a vaccine for covid-19 as soon as possible.
