The government of China has decided to assist Maldives in developing a temporary housing facility for foreigners in Maldives.
According to the Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives HE Zhang Lizhong, China State Construction Company will send over 100 workers, along with equipments and materials to build a housing facility which could accommodate 800 people.
Government of Maldives is trying to relocate foreign workers residing in Male’ as they live in congested labor quarters and the covid-19 is spreading among the foreign workers due to that.
Chinese Ambassador also stated that more help is on the way from China but did not reveal any details.
