- The Program was launched last Wednesday
- Participants expected to complete one year of Training
Medical Internship Program has been officially launched at Addu Equatorial Hospital.
Under the program launched last Wednesday, the hospital will provide invaluable hands-on training and practical experience to medical students, allowing them to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world patient care.
During the internship, students would be working under the supervision of experienced healthcare professionals, gaining exposure to the field of Medical, Surgical and Emergency care along with other areas in hospital and community setting
Apart from medical internships, medical students also have the opportunity to pursue elective postings in AEH. Electives allow students to undertake rotations in specific medical departments or healthcare settings of their choice. This flexibility enables students to explore unique medical practices, cultural contexts, and healthcare systems, broadening their horizon.
It also provides medical students with the chance to collaborate with experts in their chosen fields, learn about specialized procedures and treatments, and engage in research or community healthcare initiatives. These experiences contribute to their overall medical education and can influence their future career path.
Earlier medical internship opportunity was also opened by Hulhumale Hospital, and the Hospital is reported to be preparing to launch the program.
Until now, internship opportunities in the Maldives were only available at Dharumavantha Hospital. However, addressing concerns of limited internship opportunities, the government made arrangements to offer internship opportunities at two additional hospitals, namely Addu Equatorial Hospital in Addu City and Hulhumale’ Hospital in Hulhumale’.
Leading private Hospital ADK Hospital also conducts a Medical Internship program.
