Daily tourist arrivals to Maldives reach 6,000 -  China remains the Top Market

- 1.2 million arrivals recorded so far which is a 9.5 percent increase

- 188,317 Chinese tourists have arrived so far  

  

Statistics by the Tourism Ministry has shown that daily tourist arrivals to the Maldives have increased considerably during the past two months.  

Accordingly, an average of 6,015 tourists arrives in the Maldives every day up from around 4,000 in May and June this year.

A total of 1.2 million tourists have been welcomed to the Maldives as of July marking a 9.5 percent increase over the same period of 2024.  

According to the latest Tourism Update Report, arrivals in July has risen after  slight decrease in arrivals in May and June, exceeding the combined total to cross 180,000 tourists arrival.

China has continued to maintain the top spot of the tourist source markets followed by Russia.

Looking at arrivals from the Top 3 Source Markets : 

China – 188,317 tourists

Russia – 152,385 tourists

United Kingdom – 120,937 tourists

As per the usual trend, the majority of tourists have preferred to spend their holidays in tourist resorts so far this year with 73.1 percent followed by guesthouses with 22 percent while tourist hotels accounted for just 2.7 percent in third place.

The government has set an ambitious target of attracting 2.3 million tourists to the Maldives this year, to surpass  the two million record breaking figure achieved last year.
