RIYADH — A total of 116 government employees were arrested on corruption-related charges during the month of December, according to Saudi authorities. Some of those detained were later released on bail.
The arrests followed a series of inspection campaigns carried out by the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha). During the month, Nazaha conducted 1,440 inspection raids, which led to investigations into 466 suspects on charges including bribery and abuse of power.
Those under investigation include employees from several government entities, notably the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Health.
Nazaha stated that it is completing the necessary legal procedures to refer the cases to the judiciary. The authority also urged the public to report any suspected financial or administrative corruption through its official channels, including the toll-free number 980 and its official website.
