Ooredoo Maldives has donated specialized underwater dive equipment to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) to strengthen maritime safety and enhance underwater operational capabilities.

The handover took place at a ceremony held at MNDF Headquarters, where Ooredoo Maldives Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Khalid Al-Hamadi presented the equipment to Minister of Defence Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon.

The donation includes an Ocean Reef M105 Digital DC dual-channel communication system, a Lubell Labs underwater loudspeaker, two Ocean Reef full-face masks, and two diving masks. According to MNDF, the equipment will improve underwater communication, enhance diver safety, and boost operational effectiveness, particularly for the MNDF Coast Guard.

Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy expressed appreciation for the contribution, noting that the equipment will play an important role in strengthening the Coast Guard’s search and rescue and underwater response capabilities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Al-Hamadi said the ocean is central to the lives and livelihoods of Maldivians, and emphasized the vital role played by MNDF in ensuring national safety and security. He added that Ooredoo Maldives is proud to support MNDF through initiatives that enhance operational readiness and deliver long-term benefits to the community.

MNDF stated that the new equipment will be put to effective use in supporting rescue, security, and underwater operations carried out by the Coast Guard.
