Maldivian Opens New Office in China to Expand Operations

National airline operates flights to three Chinese cities

China remains a key tourism market for the Maldives

Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has opened a new office in Beijing, China, as part of efforts to expand its services and strengthen its presence in the Chinese market.

The airline described the opening as an important step towards enhancing its international operations and improving its services for customers travelling between the Maldives and China.

The new office was officially inaugurated by Island Aviation Services Limited Chairman Ahmed Shafeeu, Managing Director Ibrahim Iyas and Deputy Managing Director Ali Saleem, in the presence of Maldives Ambassador to China Dr Fazeel Najeeb.

According to Maldivian, the office will help strengthen its operations in China and build closer relationships with business partners and customers in the country. It is also expected to make the airline’s services more accessible and convenient for passengers.

The airline noted that the establishment of the office would contribute to stronger commercial ties between the Maldives and China, while supporting the further development of air connectivity between the two countries.

The new office is also expected to improve the travel experience for passengers flying between the Maldives and China and help attract more visitors from the Chinese market.

Maldivian currently operates flights to three Chinese cities: Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu. The airline uses its Airbus A330-200 wide-body aircraft for these routes.

The airline has appointed Megacap Aviation Services Limited as its General Sales Agent in China to support its commercial operations in the market.

China remains one of the most important source markets for Maldivian tourism. So far this year, a total of 327,531 tourists from China have visited the Maldives, accounting for 19 per cent of all tourist arrivals to the country.

The opening of the Beijing office is expected to support Maldivian’s efforts to strengthen its presence in China, improve customer services and further develop travel and business links between the two countries.
