Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and the Adhaalath Party (AP) have formed a steering committee “against oppression”
The steering committee formed by the two parties will have seven members from each party.
In a press conference held regarding the steering committee, Sheikh Imran Abdulla, the President of AP said that works of the steering committee to fight oppression of the government will be commenced today.
MDP Chairperson Ali Waheed said that they are ready to make any necessary sacrifices to save former President Mohamed Nasheed and former Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim from the oppression of the government.
In addition to that, he said that they will also work to bring an end to the oppression of the government directed towards the Jumhooree Party leader Gasim Ibrahim. He said that the government is trying to bring an end to the political carrier of Gasim.
