President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that the peace and stability of Maldives is disrupted by those who advocate murder and killing.
President made this remark in his address on the occasion of 82nd anniversary of Maldives Police Service. He said that if such people exist in the society then it will be difficult to maintain stability. He said that such people will not be tolerated in his government.
He said that no society will accept killing people and dropping them on the streets without any mercy. He raised questions regarding who are really concerned by the increase of such murders.
Pressident Yameen said that he wants to know who are behind these vices and who advocate for these violent crimes. He said that the rule of law will reach them soon.
“When the law reaches them and when they are arrested we will know who are behind these attacks. I want to know who are advocating for such crimes,” he said.
“We are saddened by the fact that these merciless violent crimes are happening in Maldives even though you are giving your very best on the line,” he said.
The President reiterated his concern regarding the increase of such killings and the fact that three people were murdered within the past eight days.
