Adhaalath Party President Sheikh Imran Abdulla has reiterated the calls to the government to stop oppressing the people economically.
Sheikh Imran made this remark speaking at the press conference held at Adhaalath Party office following the protests held in Kulhudhufushi and Addu City regarding the raise in the electricity bill.
Sheikh Imran expressed his concerns regarding the sudden changes brought to the electricity usage charges by the government. He said that this change is totally unacceptable and is oppression.
He said that this only shows that the current government is a total failure and a despotic government that knows only to oppress the people.
Sheikh Imran said that the people of Kulhudhufushi and Addu City are out on the streets because they are compelled to come out against the government because of the negligence of the government regarding their sufferings.
He said that the protestors from Addu City and Kulhudhufushi are not from one particular party but from all parties including the ruling PPM. He said that they are protesting in a national spirit for the sake of the people.
Sheikh Imrans said that the government should listen to the pleas of the people and should resolve these issues.
