Jumhooree Party’s Council member Sobah Rasheed has been arrested last night.
Sobah Rasheed was arrested right after he gave a speech at last night’s rally of the “Maldivians against tyranny” movement held at Artificial Beach area.
SO Police showed a court warrant before arresting him. Two police officers first confirmed it was Sobah who was speaking while he was giving the speech. Following his speech a team of officers came and arrested him.
During his speech, Sobah said that he will not touch the black money of Ahmed Adheeb regardless whether he and his family have to starve to death. He said that he will remain steadfast in the struggle against oppression and tyranny.
He said that it is a shame for the whole nation when the super power of the world today stated that they believe that there is no justice and fairness established in the Maldives. He said that the government should take full responsibility for that.
Sobah stressed that if the government wants to rejoice and celebrate then they should take a vote and rejoice if they win the majority votes.
“But they will dare not hold an election. We will destroy them in an election,” he said.
He added that more and more people will join the struggle to end the tyranny of the present government.
