Family of former Defence Minister Colonel (retired) Mohamed Nazim has been asked to hand him over to Corrections.
In a letter sent by the Corrections, it was stated that they have been informed that Nazim’s treatment at Singapore have been concluded therefore to hand him over to them as soon as possible.
The family stated that Nazim will not be staying in Singapore after the treatment as the country is the most expensive country in the region.
The family also stated that they will hand him over to the corrections within the time period given for Nazim’s treatment.
They say that this has been informed to the corrections.
Nazim was sacked from President Yameen Abdul Gayoom's cabinet in January after police raided his home and allegedly found a pistol and some bullets.
He was sentenced for 11 years in prison by the Criminal Court. Relatives and supporters of Nazim say the charges were politically motivated because he was becoming popular within Gayoom's party.
