Former MP for Kendikulhudhoo constituency Ahmed Easa has stated that he was beaten up by Police following his arrest during the Mayday protest.
In an interview to RaajjeTV, Ahmed Easa said that he was beaten up for about fourty minutes.
He said that police officers kicked him on his spine and hit him on his head with batons.
He said that he was beaten up until he was taken to the speed boat to be taken away to Dhoonidhoo detention center.
“In Dhoonidhoo I was given to eat and drink at about thirty minutes before I was taken to Court,” he said.
Despite recommendation by the doctor in Dhoonidhoo Detention Centre for Easa to be examined by an independent doctor in Male’, Easa was not been given medical attention.
Easa has now been released and is taking medical treatment from ADK hospital. He said that the tyranny of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s regime should be brought to an end.
According to media reports, journalists heard Easa scream after he was arrested.
