Minister of Islamic Affars, Dr. Ahmed Ziyad has said that the ministry will be commencing Islamic awareness programs for Maldivians abroad next week.
Speaking to the press, the minister said that the program will be first started in neighbouring India and Sri Lanka.
Dr. Ziyad said that teams from the Islamic Ministry will be travelling to those areas even in the month of Ramadan.
In addition to this, the minister said that the most number of people to goto Hajj will be this year. He said that about 2000 people from Maldives will goto Hajj this year.
Furthermore, he said that the ministry is working out a solution to the rain leak problem at Qatar Ameer mosque in Hulhumale’.
“A Malaysian company will be working to fix the leaks. The company will give a three year guarantee. This is a joint project of the Islamic Ministry, HDC and Housing Ministry,” he said.
Dr. Ziyad also said that 29 Imams have left to Malaysia to participate in Imam training courses. He said that the ministry gets the assistance of the Center for Holy Quran.
