Opposition Adhaalath Party (AP) President Sheikh Imran Abdullah has stated that he will show a better example of sincerity than the Government’s example.
He made the statement speaking in the rally held under the banner “Ending Injustice” held last night in Artificial Beach.
Sheikh Imran stated that the opposition has been more than willing to sit down for the negotiations. He also stated that if the Government had any sincerity, they would attend the negotiations, even if they began in the coming week.
Sheikh Imran, recently released from Police custody, spoke of his detention, calling it an eye opening experience. He said that the experience showed him the reality Maldives is facing and that the reality was not once that would be acceptable to any citizen. Sheikh Imran stated that the reality can only be changed by direct action from the citizens.
He also called on all to unite to bring an end to the difficulties imposed by the Government on former Defense Minister Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim, Jumhooree Party Leader Qasim Ibrahim and former President Mohamed Nasheed.
Sheikh Imran stated that Allah had forbidden injustice and therefore, it was essential that all citizens have to work to prevent it. He assured that until this becomes the reality in the country, the work against injustice would prevail.
Sheikh Imran added that the work to end injustice in the nation was not started as a means of removing or changing the present Government and that the opposition had no such intentions.
