Last Friday’s sermon cited that most scholars had agreed that death penalty was the most fitting punishment for those trafficking drugs.
The Friday sermon stated that most scholars agreed that we must not be sympathetic or show lenience for drug dealers.
“Scholars have no disagreements on serving death penalty. They say that when drug traffickers are jailed, they create and expand their markets, with the use of their cash. Statistics show that many drug traffickers deliberately go to prison to seek a safe environment.”
“Scholars say that such persons deserves death penalty. Drug traffickers are responsible for the destruction and death of many, in addition to societal discord. For anyone who deliberately encroaches the life of another, Islam calls for death penalty.”
The sermon went ahead to elaborate on the punishments for such criminals, such as crucification and exile.
The sermon added that drug dependency led to extra issues such as theft, in addition to losing their livelihood and future.
The sermon concluded by calling on all to do all that was possible to prevent the society from falling into drugs.
