President Abdullah Yameen had instated special measures to curb the spread of dengue, following the rise in reported dengue cases.
As such, he had compiled a task force to tackle the issue on Tuesday.
Reported dengue cases spike every four years. As such, Health Ministry had instated special measures to tackle the issue in April.
The Government had decreed that City Council had failed to properly clean and manage the roads of Male’. As such, the roads are now
managed by Housing Ministry and the Ministry had started cleaning the drains and roads.
Government had ruled out fogging the city and said that the Government was seeking other options for the issue. The Government had called on
all to clean out any areas that may promote mosquito breeding.
In the last dengue breakout four years ago, 11 had died that year. The Government reported that the President was seeking to bring a solution to the issue before it becomes a pandemic.
