Anti-terror Bill to be submitted to Parliament
The State has passed to file a revamped Anti-Terror Bill, to replace the current Anti-Terror Bill.

President’s Office reported that in the new Bill, special procedures will be specified in order to criminalize, condemn and prevent acts of terror.

The Office also reported that public safety and independence and personal rights will be carefully considered and their limitations specified under the new Bill.
“Under the means specified in the law, measures will be enacted to detain, monitor and control those suspected of terrorist acts,” the Office said.

The new Bill comes at a time, when the State had been at the receiving end of many controversies regarding the present Bill, both locally and internationally.

The present Anti- Terror Bill was compiled in 1990. Many experts have pointed that the law does not fit the present situation.
