Villa Group Chairman Qasim Ibrahim has stated that inconveniences to Villa Group employees and to students of Villa Foundation cannot be tolerated.
Qasim made the statement revealing the reasons behind the Group’s decision to pay the amount owed to the Government.
Qasim stated that the decision was arrived after careful considerations to the issue. He added that the decision was arrived at in order to not sacrifice the rights of the 5,000 employees of the Group and the 300 students studying under fully funded scholarships from Villa Foundation.
He added that many employees have faced trying times as they have not been paid service charge for two months and the legally mandated Ramadan allowance. Additionally, he said that it was unbearable for him to halt the scholarships.
Qasim stated that he was sure that the legal system would find the Group not guilty of the charges against the Group. He also stated that he had full faith in the system and that there would be no fees that needed to be paid by the Group to the Government.
