STO Managing Director Ahmed Shaheer has stated that the aim of the company is to supply the market with the best quality cement at reasonable prices.
Speaking to press after a ceremony held in Hotel Jen on merging Holcim and Lafarge, Shaheer stated that with this merge, Lafarge-Holcim is the largest cement supplier in the world.
He stated that when STO first started packaging and selling cement in Maldives with Lafarge, cement bags were selling for between MVR 85 and MVR 90. This price had dropped to between MVR 45 and MVR 50 following STO’s venture into the market.
Shaheer added that the cement is now the engineer recommended premium cement. He also added that the Lafarge-Holcim cement is presently selling at a higher rate as the product is of premium quality. However, Shaheer added that the company was working to ensure that the prices would drop in the near future.
STO is to start the sale of ready mix for concrete after Ramadan.
