A.A. Bodufulhadhoo School Principal Fazeena Rasheed has stated that the island schools can only be developed by locals.
She made the statement speaking in the ceremony held to mark the 25th anniversary of the school.
Fazeena said that it would be beneficial to the school if the citizens of the island pursued higher education as teachers and then serve the schools. She added that the needs of the students can only be determined by the citizens of the island. She also noted that it was a dream of the islanders to see local teachers teach a wide range of subjects.
Fazeena added that many parents had raised the issue of the large number of foreign teachers.
