MPL CEO Mohamed Junaid has stated that the company’s aim is to create a state of the art terminal in Addu, Hulhumeedhoo and Feydhoo.
Speaking to Miadhu, Junaid said all drawings for the project had already been completed. He said the two terminals in the two islands will feature separate two terminals for arrivals and departures. The new terminal, he said will also have a café, a mother’s area, public toilets and prayer rooms.
“Initially we planned to create 20 rooms there. But now that has expanded to a 100 bed initiative. So the drawings will change as well,”
Junaid said currently terminal services are provided by using containers on a temporary basis but said an interim terminal is already under construction and will finish by next week.
“Then customers will have access to a tuck shop, secure cycle parking and special services for the differently abled,”
Noting the initiative is a large and complex one, Junaid said it would not be possible to introduce all services at one. However, he said that once completed and operational, the terminal will provide many services.
